While Nintendo has released solid Mario titles one after another with only a few less than stellar titles over the years Sonic games have had more misses then hits for over a decade now, only recently with Sonic Generations has Sega gotten the series back on the right track.
Due to the long periods between quality official releases people have been looking towards fan remixes to fill the gap left by Sega’s lack of direction. Below are several projects that are giving Sonic fans solid tributes to the 2D games of the past.
